A New Chapter in Donor Family Storytelling
September 8, 2026
Every donor family has a story. Behind each story is a person who was deeply loved, a family navigating loss, and an experience that can help others feel less alone.
At Taylor’s Gift, we believe those stories deserve to be heard.
That’s why we’re excited to collaborate with the Houston Methodist Hospital Patient Engagement Research Lab on the Donor Family Storytelling Initiative. This new project gives donor families an opportunity to share their experiences, honor their loved ones, and help others who are navigating grief.
Through workshops and one-on-one support, participating donor families will have the opportunity to tell their stories and contribute to a collection of donor family perspectives. These stories will help others better understand the realities of grief while giving healthcare professionals greater insight into the experiences of donor families.
Meet Jill
We’re grateful to Jill, our first Caring Guide to participate in the project, for sharing her story.
As a Caring Guide at Taylor’s Gift, Jill brings her own lived experience with grief to her work supporting other donor families. By sharing her story through this initiative, she is helping create a space where others can see their own experiences reflected and know they are not alone.

Your Story Matters
You do not need to be a writer to participate. There is no single way to tell a story about grief, and you choose what you are comfortable sharing.
Your story might be about your loved one, what you wish people understood about grief, or something you learned along the way.
By sharing your experience, you can offer another donor family a sense of connection and help healthcare professionals better understand what families need throughout their grief journey.
If you have received Taylor’s Gift Grief Support Services, we invite you to share your story. Email info@taylorsgift.org to learn how.
NEED GRIEF SUPPORT?
